Alphonse deRicqles was a livestock commission man in Colorado and Nebraska, serving as general manager of the American Live Stock and Loan Company.
He was also an officer of the Colorado Museum of Natural History. A scholarship at the College of Agriculture, Colorado State University, bears his name.

Born in Yellow Springs, Ohio, DeRiqules attended Antioch and Raonoke Colleges. He went to work in the engineering department of the Pennsylvania Railroad and directed much of that line's reconstruction work after the disastrous 1889 Johnstown flood.
